April 2005
Dear Coach,
The Parkview Dugout Club announces that the 17th annual Parkview Summer Shootout
Baseball Tournament will be held Wednesday – Sunday June 15 – 19, 2005. Most games
will be played Thursday - Sunday. The tournament will be open only to teams
consisting of players with returning high school eligibility. Once again we are proud to
have Rawlings Sporting Goods as the corporate sponsor and we will again be using the
Rawlings baseball as the official baseball.
The tournament will be a round robin format with each team scheduled for 5 games. The
entry fee is $400.00 and is due by Monday, May 16th to insure entry. The first 120 teams
to submit entry form and fee will be guaranteed a team in the tournament. As in the past,
game balls will be furnished. Once again we are anticipating an outstanding field and as
always the event should be very competitive. The tournament is always well attended by
professional scouts and college coaches, thus your players will have the opportunity to
display their skills and abilities in front of knowledgeable baseball people in a very
competitive environment. Tournament schedules are sent to all major league
organizations and many colleges.
The Norcross and Peachtree Corners Courtyard and the Marriott in Norcross will be the
official headquarters site for this year’s Shootout. We have contracted a rate of $69.00
rate that includes a continental breakfast. This is an outstanding rate for the Atlanta area and I
would encourage you to take advantage of it. In this packet, you will also find other
motels that have been popular with you in the past. Due to several host sites in Gwinnett
dropping out of the tournament, some games will be scheduled in the Alpharetta and
Roswell area. I would advise you to book your rooms well in advance because June is a
prime vacation month in the Atlanta area.
If you wish to enter your team in this years Shootout, please complete the enclosed entry
form and return it to the Parkview Community School by Monday, May 16th.
Tournament schedules, rules and ball park locations as well as directions will be mailed
out and posted on the internet around June 6st. It will be posted at www.Parkview.net using
the baseball link. If you have any questions regarding the tournament please feel free to
contact me.
Sincerely,
Chan Brown
